Welcome and Course Overview
DIY*Calm, the Neurodivergent-Affirming Guide to Mindfulness Meditation aims to introduce you to a method of bringing yourself accessible inner calm and quieting the chaos, in a way that works for you.
Even though mindfulness is often presented as a universal practice, traditional approaches don’t always fit the way neurodivergent brains work. Our guide has been written and vetted by the folks above - different minds, levels of experiences, world views and practices, to help make the freest mental health intervention of all, accessible to as many people as possible.
Mindfulness Meditation can work whether you're whether you’re someone who thrives in movement rather than stillness, needs sensory breaks, or finds focus challenging.
Mindfulness is not about “quieting” your brain but about working with it to find moments of calm in a world that isn’t always accommodating.
We encourage you to practice your own hacks, and noticing how you intuitively find a way to capture mindful moments!
Enjoy this e-book and program, and we always want to know what you think!
P.S.
A note for folks who have ADHD in particular:
In no way does this replace seeking professional guidance and/or treatment. The treatment leg this content fits into is the psychosocial interventions that complement medication. Medication remains by far the most effective first line strategy to manage challenges in consistent functioning due to ADHD.
